ESOL Learning in South West Edinburgh

With the exception of the English for Work and Training Course at Stevenson College, all classes listed below are FREE of charge:

Methodist Church Hall in Tollcross

ESOL classes are held on Wednesday mornings from 11am - 1pm.  Creche facilities provided.

English language classes take place in Wester Hailes Education Centre from Monday to Thursday from 9.30 - 11.30am.  Reading and writing workshops are held on Fridays from 9.30am - 12.20pm.  Creche space for students' children may be available.  The classes are run by Stevenson College.

 

Stevenson College - English for Work and Training

COURSE FEES APPLICABLE FOR THIS COURSE
This course is for people who speak English as a second language who are living in the UK on a permanent or long-term basis and want to improve their English for work or further training. The course aims to improve English, self-confidence and IT skills and is offered at Access, Intermediate and higher levels.

Access Level - For people with a basic level of English. It develops core skills, literacy, numeracy and IT.

Intermediate Level - As well as building English Language skills, this course includes SQA units in IT, numeracy and ESOL.

Higher Level - Students here prepare for SQA ESOL Higher, improve IT skills by completing the ECDL, enhance job-seeking skills and undertake a work placement.

Entry Requirements:
Minimum entry (Level 1) SQA ESOL Access 3 or equivalent level of English.
Qualification Type:
Access Level SQA ESOL
Int 1 Level SQA units in ESOL, Numeracy and IT
Int 2 Level SQA units in ESOL, IT and up to 3 other subjects
Higher Level SQA ESOL, Higher and ECDL
Start:
Starts week beginning 25 August 08.
What can I do next?:
Depending on level, you may progress to other vocational qualifications, higher education or work.
